Sunday, May 27th - House Gallery's Annual Memorial Day Soiree

Back again with another House Gallery Memorial Day Soiree! This party has been a favorite for a lot of our friends and family, as it is the last day to catch up before going back into the daily grind of life. This year we've got a couple of great additions to our line-up that we'd like you to get to know. So without further ado, Ancient Deep -
Ancient Deep is a DJ/Percussionist duo consisting of Little Bill and Dorian the Percussionist, currently based out of Dallas, TX and St Augustine FL. Little Bill began his dj career 18 years ago as a Boston native, after spending his youth in dancer cyphers at some of the Northeast’s hottest spots. On the West Coast, Dorian developed his musical palate at some of Cali’s most legendary warehouse parties. The two ended up at the warehouse Little Bill owned to play some music, and in a defining moment recognized their purpose to cross paths, collaborate, and cultivate. The Garage emerged, and brought a one-of-a-kind night to the area. Once a month, they would host a special guest and keep it underground. Leonard Remix Rroy, DJ Kemit, Lars Behrenroth, Rich Medina, Master Kev and Roy Davis Jr. were among the many respected talents The Garage would host.

After 3 years of fine-tuning crowd control, music selection and technique, Little Bill and Dorian turned their efforts to production. They began collaborating side by side in their studio, incorporating live percussion into each production. With support from industry leaders including &ME, Soul Clap, Osunlade, David Montaya, Oscar P, Opolopo, and Casa Mena, the duo has traveled the country for performances from House of Efunk (DET), to Felabration (ATL) Stomp the House (DET) Art Basel (MIA) and so on.

Ancient Deep ushers a unique live performance, filled with raw emotion and a portfolio that includes releases on Soul Clap Records, Open Bar Music, Deeper Shades Recordings, and was featured on Fabric’s 93 Comp. With live drums calling the crowd, Ancient Deep’s modern primitive rhythms are anchored in tribal tones drawn from the sounds that came before them to the sounds that will echo through time.

Jonn Hawley -

Located 90 miles due north of Chicago, Milwaukee might not yet rank as a legendary musical destination but DJ and producer Jonn Hawley is focused to change that perception; this is something he has always done in his career. “We are the headquarters of the Drop Bass Network and their notorious parties... there has always been a rich underground scene here, you just have to know where to find it” he says.

Jonn made his debut in 1991 and has not only helped to define the Milwaukee underground dance movement but has taken his passion and talent all over the globe to cities such as New York, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Miami and even as far away as Hawaii and Ireland. Wherever and whenever he plays there is guaranteed feedback from those who dance to his beats for the first time that he is very gifted; hearing him behind the decks is always an electrifying experience. “Music is my life” Jonn laments, “It keeps me grounded and inspired with a true message of unity and joy.”

Uchikawa (aka Loftsoul) -

DJ Uchikawa Masahiko is a Japanese DJ and music producer known for releases under the names of “Rhythm of Elements”and “LOFTSOUL.” He has been active since the beginning of the club scene in the 1980’s. He not only has served as a regular DJ at famous clubs around Japan, but also as a guest DJ at a number of clubs both home and abroad. His style is based on the “Deep and Soulful” sound. “Rhythm of Elements,” is the duo consisting of DJ Uchikawa Masahiko and Makoto Kuriya, a pianist, ever since 1998. They have released albums with labels such as R2 records, Future Vision, Black Vinyle, Loop Sounds, Asante, Jet Set Records…

In 2002, Uchikawa opened a club named “LOFT” in his hometown Ueda, Nagano. It has been praised by international DJs and artists. In 2010, he started up his own label Loftsoul Recordings as well as his solo project LOFTSOUL. He has already released three full-length albums, a remix album and numerous singles on Loftsoul Recordings and R2 Records(UK). He has also been organizing the Deep House party NUDEEP @ZERO in Shibuya and MAGO in Nagoya. He has also been playing overseas in places such as South Africa, Paris, London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Detroit, Chicago, NYC, LA, Seoul..

Claus Bachor -

PSYCHO THRILL Cologne founder CLAUS BACHOR is one of the German long-term House and Techno DJs, and as friends in Detroit say "he's been doing this as long as anybody else that we know! His sets can range from classic Disco & old school House classics all the way to the darkest, bangin' techno that you've ever heard!" However, he's not standing still yet! The Psycho Thrill club and vinyl label run by Claus has just turned 25 and Bachor is still doing bookings all over Europe, the US and beyond.

His long-term affiliations with Detroit techno music and also his journalistic involvement with the topic of Detroit Techno/Electro/Chicago-House as an author/editor over the years has made him a world renowned expert. This experience and vast knowledge of the techno genre has led him to appearing in many documentaries, the most notable being 'High Tech Soul' which focused on the creation of Detroit techno music. Other film credits include being involved in the highly acclaimed 'We Call it Techno' documentary which focused on Germany's early techno scene and club culture.

Without using the usual hype for trends, he has managed to gain a position as multi-communicator in the German Techno and House scene, in which he is always convincing as a DJ.

Dénouement (danoo'mäN) -

The evolution of Dénouement’s love affair with dirty warehouses, house&techno and battle coffins spans 30 years. In the Mile High City, she's appeared at Milk Bar, The Living Room, The Funky Buddha.Dénouement is blessed to dj in the beloved city of Detroit, including Motor City Wine, New Menjos Complex, Fountain Bistro, Queens Bar, Grasshopper or Upstairs at SUBMERGE. Brooklyn and Austin have felt her vibe, Dénouement also opened for the legendary Alexander Robotnick (ITALY), and most recently, La Fleur (SWEDEN).

DETUNE is known as a crate digger, constantly traveling through the history of electronic music, relentlessly searching for music that expands the mind and moves the soul. By combining the lost art of turntablism with the sound of the future, he creates a new vibe every time he gets on. In his own productions he combines analog sound with digital technology, searching for that uncompromising, timeless sound that reflects the soul of the music. “To me this music thing is about a

Determined Engagement To Uplift Neglected Elements of this artform, hence the name” - DETUNE

Smth - Smth. The abreviation of something. Because music is something undefinable. This record collector pur sang therefore prefers to let the music do the talking. Hailing from Ghent, Belgium. A small town in a small country, but with a big Hart for Detroit.

And of course

House Gallery - (Adam Francesconi, Jay Ramsey & J.Garcia)

This trio of DJ's has been grinding the Detroit area for over a decade, each with their own unique angle on House music. Since 2007 HG has consistently held residencies at some of the most notable bars/clubs in recent Detroit history. (PROOF), The Grasshopper and of course MotorCity Wine stand out the most. We've played most of the festivals in town as well as a bit of overseas fun in cities like Paris, Cologne and Berlin. During this time the philosophy of the crew has always been to share the decks with family and friends to create a consistent, warm and groovin vibe wherever we go!

We can't wait to welcome you and our family from around the globe back to Detroit with big, warm hugs and smiles!
